Email automation

A Klaviyo freelancer for Shopify stores that want repeat customers

Most stores spend everything acquiring a customer and nothing keeping one. Email is the cheapest channel you own outright, and for most Shopify stores, a handful of automated flows quietly does more work than the entire campaign calendar.

  • Shopify
  • Mailchimp
  • WooCommerce
  • BigCommerce

Is this you?

Any of these sound familiar

If one of these is your store, the fix is usually four flows rather than a bigger campaign calendar.

  • They buy once and never return

Acquisition works, retention does not, and nothing automated follows the first order.

  • Your flows exist but nobody checks them

They were switched on a year ago and have been running unread ever since.

  • Email revenue is flat, so you send more

Unsubscribes climb, deliverability slips, and revenue stays where it was.

  • Your emails are landing in spam

Domain authentication, a stale list, or volume that ramped too fast, and it is invisible until revenue drops.

My approach

What I have learned building Klaviyo flows

If you take nothing else from this page, take these four. They are the difference between an email program that earns and one that just sends.

Four flows do most of the work

Welcome, abandoned checkout, post-purchase, and win-back. Before you plan a single campaign, these four should exist and be tested, because they run forever without you. A store with good flows and no campaigns almost always outperforms a store with daily campaigns and no flows.

Segmentation beats sending more

The instinct when email revenue is flat is to send more often. That usually raises unsubscribes and lowers deliverability. The fix is almost always the opposite: send to fewer, better-chosen people. Someone who bought twice in ninety days and someone who has not opened an email in a year should not receive the same message, and one of them should not receive it at all.

Deliverability is a technical job, not a writing job

If your email lands in spam, none of the copy matters. That means authenticating your sending domain properly with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, warming a new domain instead of blasting it, and actively suppressing people who never engage. Most stores I audit have at least one of these wrong, and it is usually invisible until revenue drops.

Measure revenue per recipient, not open rate

Open rate stopped being reliable when Apple began pre-loading images in 2021, it inflates the number without a human reading anything. Revenue per recipient tells you what a send was actually worth. Track that, plus placed-order rate and unsubscribe rate, and you can make real decisions.

That is the whole approachAsk how it applies to your store →

How I work

The process, and how long it takes

A full flow build usually runs three to four weeks. An audit alone is faster, and sometimes an audit is all you need.

1of 5 · Week 1

  1. Week 1

    Audit what is already there

Existing flows, list health, deliverability setup, and where revenue currently comes from. I will show you which flows are earning and which are just running. Often something is broken rather than missing.

  2. Week 1

Map the flows to your actual buying cycle

A store selling coffee people rebuy monthly needs a different win-back timing than one selling furniture. We set the triggers, delays, and exit conditions around how your customers really behave, not a template’s defaults.

  3. Week 2–3

    Build in Klaviyo, on brand

Flows built and styled to match your store, with segmentation, suppression rules, and dynamic product blocks where they help. Written to sound like your brand rather than like an email template.

  4. Week 3

Test every path before it goes live

Every branch triggered manually, rendering checked across major clients including dark mode, links verified, and revenue attribution confirmed to be tracking. Flows fail quietly, so this stage matters.

  5. Week 4 onward

Turn on, then improve with data

Flows go live and I watch the first weeks of real data. Subject lines, timing, and offer placement get adjusted based on what actually happens, not what should happen.

What you end up with

  • Core flows built and live: welcome, abandoned checkout, post-purchase, win-back
  • Browse-abandonment and back-in-stock where they fit the store
  • Deliverability setup verified, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sending domain
  • Segments and suppression rules that protect your sender reputation
  • A revenue dashboard you can read without me
  • Handover notes so your team can edit and extend the flows

Common questions

What people ask before hiring me

Still unanswered? Send me a message. I read every one myself.

What does a Klaviyo freelancer do that the Shopify email app does not?

Shopify Email is fine for a basic newsletter. Klaviyo exists for behavior: what someone browsed, when they last bought, how much they have spent, whether they are drifting away. That behavioral data is what makes flows worth having. The work is designing which behaviors matter for your store and building the logic around them, the tool is the easy part.

Which Klaviyo flows should I set up first?

In order: abandoned checkout, because those people already tried to buy; welcome, because it is your best-performing list-building asset; post-purchase, because it decides whether there is a second order; then win-back for customers going quiet. Everything else is refinement on top of those four.

How much of my revenue should come from email?

For an established ecommerce store, email commonly contributes somewhere in the range of twenty to thirty percent of revenue, though it varies a lot by category and repeat-purchase rate. What matters more than hitting a benchmark is the direction: if email is under ten percent and your flows are thin, there is usually meaningful room. I will give you a realistic read on your store rather than a number from a blog post.

Klaviyo or Mailchimp for a Shopify store?

Klaviyo, in almost every case, because it was built around ecommerce data and Mailchimp was not. Mailchimp still makes sense for content businesses and newsletters where purchase behavior is not the point. I work in both, and I have migrated stores from Mailchimp to Klaviyo, that migration is its own small project, mostly because list hygiene and deliverability need care.

How long before flows start producing revenue?

Abandoned checkout and welcome flows start earning as soon as traffic passes through them, which is usually within days. Post-purchase and win-back need a full purchase cycle before the numbers mean anything, for many stores that is thirty to ninety days. Judging a win-back flow after two weeks tells you nothing.

Do you write the emails or do I?

I write the flow emails as part of the build, in your brand voice, and you review them. You know your products and your customers; my job is structure, timing, and making sure each email has one purpose. If you have a copywriter you like, I work with them.

My emails are landing in spam. Can that be fixed?

Usually, yes, but it takes patience rather than a switch. It normally comes down to domain authentication, a list containing addresses that never engage, or sending volume that ramped too quickly. The fix is to authenticate properly, suppress the dead weight, and rebuild reputation gradually. Expect weeks, not days, and be skeptical of anyone who promises otherwise.

Do you work with US ecommerce brands?

Yes, most of my ecommerce clients are in the United States. I am based in Bangladesh and overlap with US business hours every working day, roughly 9am to 1pm Eastern. In practice the time difference works in your favour on a build: I am working while your store is quiet, so flow changes get tested overnight rather than during your trading day. Kickoff and review calls happen on Zoom in your morning.

Do you work with stores outside Shopify?

Yes. Klaviyo integrates with WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and others, and the thinking is the same. Shopify is simply where most of my ecommerce work happens and where the integration is smoothest.

Not sure your flows are earning?

Send me your store and Klaviyo account and I will tell you what is working, what is broken, and what I would build first. If the answer is that your flows are already fine, I will say that.
